I finally took the plunge to WP. I have been considering this for a long time and after continued issues with a former CMS, I installed WP 2.0 last night. So far, so good.

One of the features I was looking forward to was tagging. I installed Ultimate Tag Warrior (UTM) and have tags enabled. But in doing so, I realize that I don't quite have tagging figured out.

I configured UTM to tag like this:
    sitename/tag/whatever

It all works. But how do I get Technorati, del.icio.us, etc. to work with these tags? How do these sites know there is a new post at my site and grab the tags?

This is easy as can be, OS. Make sure that you are pinging pingomatic or Technorati.

To do so, go into your dashboard and click "Options," then "Writing." At the bottom, you will see an option to ping certain sites when you post. (It reads "Update Services")

Pingomatic should already be there (and pings most places you'd be interested in). I additionally ping Technorati for the hell of it. If that spot is blank, you can plug these links into it:

    http://rpc.pingomatic.com/
    http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

    Hope this helps. Happy Blogging!

Keep in mind that pingomatic doesn't seem to be working now or for the last several weeks....

    Vkaryl-
True that. Thanks for reminding me. I still have it listed for when it does, though. IMHO, Technorati is the best place to ping to, as it generates oodles of traffic for my site in conjunction with google.
