My goal is to have a list of book entries, with cross referenceable tags/categories to isolate them by things like author, subject, availability in local library...
I've enabled both the tag and category widgets on my sidebar and they search just my site for either tag or category, but both tags and categories in the entries themselves search all of wordpress. I would rather just use tags/categories (I don't care which) within the entries instead of the sidebar, since I will have lots of authors and other factors.
Should the tags/cats within the entries be doing this? Can I make them search just my site? I am using basic WP-hosting.

I've been reading other threads about local vs global tags and I'm guessing that WP still hasn't changed on this.
However, why do both tag and category widgets search locally?
Seems lousy to me.

GOT IT!
I exported my original wordpress data via xml, which includes tags in the entries for authors. I imported that xml file into a new wp blog and the tags started began searching just that one site from the inline entry tags. It's exactly what I want and I'm sure others are looking for too. The templates are exactly the same, so it's not an issue of one template doing it right and one not doing it right.
