    Hello,

first, sorry for my poor english… :)

I have got a problem with WordPress TablePress and the DataTables ColumnFilterWidgets. It doesn't work. I tried many times and yes, i had the special tag in it:

    [table id=1 datatables_columnfilterwidgets=true/]

I installed version 1.2 of this columnfilterwidget and I use TablePress 0.9-RC.
My site has a restricted access and everybody need a password to log in. But I tried without all plugins (except the tablepress one) but it doesn't work…

    Any ideas?

    Kind regards,

    Abi

    Hi Abi,

this sounds like a JavaScript problem then.

Can you please send me an email with that login, so that I can take a direct look at it? You can find my email address in the main plugin file "tablepress.php".

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi,

just for everybody else reading this:
After working with Abi directly on this, we found that it was a rights issue that prevented the JS files from being loaded. Fixing the rights on the files also fixed the issue.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Hi,

thanks for your question and sorry for the trouble!

If I remember correctly, some of the file permissions on his server were not set correctly.

As this is a very rare cause for errors, we should investigate other possible reason in your case first.
Could you please post a link to the page with the table where the ColumnFilterWidgets Extension is not working? Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

Hi Tobias. Thank you for your prompt reply. You are one of the best plugin-authors with regards to support. I've made a small donation.
My situation is as follows : I am total newby, with no coding knowledge.
I am using a localhost (XAMPP), and will be doing so until my website is ready to go live (2 months from now?).So unfortunately I cannot give you a link.
So with regards to the ColumnFilterWidget : I have tried different themes (twenty eleven, twelve and thirteen) with no luck. The dropdown boxes do appear and are populated with data. But when I choose a value the filter does not work, still showing all values in the table.
I've googled a bit - could it it be a XAMPP, jQuery issue?
    Best wishes

    Hi,

    thanks for the explanation!

No, I don't think it's a XAMPP or jQuery issue. If it were, you wouldn't see the filter fields at all.

Can you maybe upload the table in question somewhere, after exporting it to a CSV file, and post some example filterings that are not working? I could then check why the filtering is not working.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Hi Tobias. OK figured it out. Once again thank you for your support.
Knowing that I have your back-up, inpired me to look closer myself for a solution. For other users, this was my mistake :
Features of the JavaScript Library has a tick box for enabling users
to filter or serach the table. Mine was not ticked.
You live and learn and then you keep on living to learn more.
Thank you and all the best.

    Hi,

ah, that explains it! :-) Nice find! Good to hear that things are working now! :-)

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven't, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
