    I'm a Table Press fan, but I recently tried it on a free responsive theme and was surprised it didn't work. I tried it on the cazuela theme. Is there a way to make it work?

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    I can't see a reason why this theme should not work (in any case this would not be TablePress's fault, as TablePress can work with every theme). Please explain in more detail what is not working. Can you maybe post a link?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    I have images in the table, I think that's causing the problem.

    Hi,

    images in tables are no problem, they just need special attention sometimes.
    However, to investigate details, I need to see the table on the page. Please post a link. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi,

    ok, thanks for the link. Now, I can see the table and the images in it, but I don't understand what the problem is. Could you please explain what is wrong and how I can reproduce it?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    The theme is responsive. When you shrink it down, the images in the table -- well, it looks like the table itself -- doesn't actually shrink. It kind of overlaps. How does it look on your end?

    Hi,

    everything is fine with that table for me. Whether I shrink my browser window, or on iPad or smartphone. The table shrinks just fine, and the images fit.

    Tobias

    I have an issue with the tablepress responsive. It is not working. The table overlaps everything and goes beyond the end of the website :(

    A timely help will be highly appreciated

    Hi,

    thanks for your question.

    Your issue is not actually with the TablePress Responsive Tables Extension (as you are not using that).
    Your problem is that that your table just has too much content to fit on a small screen, so that the browser creates the overlap.
    If you look at the table on a phone, there's just not enough room, so there's nothing that TablePress can do here. :-(
    Your best chance is to reduce the font size and the padding in the table on phones, e.g. with this "Custom CSS":

    @media (max-width: 767px) {
        .tablepress-id-3 tbody td div p {
            font-size: 12px !important;
        }
        .tablepress-id-3 tbody td {
            padding: 3px;
        }
    }

    Also, the way how you are doing the formatting (with <div> and <p> elements) is not really nice, as that creates overhead.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias

    Thanks for helping me.

    I installed the responsive tablepress with your help.

    But still its not giving me a proper look

    http://www.jtdaylilies.com/our-daylily-garden/lilies/

    I want my table to look like that
    http://www.jtdaylilies.com/our-daylily-garden/daylily-photos-a-b/

    Will the above solution work for that as well?

    warmest regards
    Radhika

    Hi Radhika,

    this is then actually not a use case for the Extension.
    The trick here is, to not create a column for each image. In fact, the table at http://www.jtdaylilies.com/our-daylily-garden/daylily-photos-a-b/ only has two columns. The images then just float next to each with the default theme CSS. And when the browser window is smaller, they just jump to the next line.
    Your table however contains a column for each image, which will not work.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Thanks Tobias

    Then I guess I will not insist on using the extension.

    But I have got another weird problem here. When I insert the image in the cell (as a thumnail) the images look different even when I have give the same dimensions in the table.

    eg:

    <img src="http://www.jtdaylilies.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Jan-3rd-2013-012-jack-watermark.jpg" alt="Arctic Lace" width="150" height="128" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-183" />

    So basically what I am doing is inserting the image in the cell and changing the width="150" & height="128". Is that not allowed in wordpress?

    Hi,

    no, changing widths of images is no problem, and of course it is allowed in WordPress :-) However, many themes contain CSS code that will again override the settings/numbers that you have made in the HTML code.
    Where exactly can I see the images that cause problems for you and don't have the correct size?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias:

    I'm having trouble resolving an issue you've commented on above with responsive theme. I am using Tablepress to help keep a page well organized with text and images. Problem is when the browser width changes the images don't resize. And yes, I put each image into a cell in the table. How do I achieve the same results and make the images "float"?

    Thanks!

    Hi Roger,

    thanks for your post and sorry for the trouble!

    Could you please post a link to the page with the table, where this is happening, so that I can take a direct look? Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi,

    thanks for the links!

    Now, I'm confused though. On all of these pages, the images shrink when I resize my browser window. Isn't that the behavior that you wanted?

    Tobias

    The images in the table are not resizing on my monitor when I change the width of my browser (Firefox). I do see the text changing. The Fender images do not change nor do I see the grass catcher images changing.

    I know you mentioned about not putting the images in their own cells which is what I did. I'm just not sure how to position them without putting them in to table.

    Hi,

    indeed, in Firefox, they are not shrinking... In Google Chrome, this works just fine. Strange...

    Please try adding this to the "Custom CSS" textarea in TablePress:

    .tablepress img {
      width: 100%;
    }

    That should make it work in Firefox as well.

    Tobias

    Thanks...getting closer! Added the Custom CSS then tested this link. After squeezing browser and then setting it back to full size, the left image is now oversized and doesn't reset to original dims.

    Hi,

    ok, we might have to set the columns to equal widths in that table:

    .tablepress-id-1 td {
        width: 50%;
    }

    Tobias

    Hi Tobias:

    The table is making my images larger than their original size which is 400x300px when viewed on large desktop display.

    http://lawntractor.abihosting.co/tractors-with-grass-catchers/

    I want them to shrink when responsive theme is smaller width but is there a way to set their maximum allowed size so it doesn't go bigger than their original dimensions?
