    Hi TablePress users,
I’m retrieving data stored in a published google spreadsheet. If I import the data into a new table, I paste the URL to the google spreadsheet, and everything works perfectly.

However, if I update the google spreadsheet and republish it, the data in the table doesn’t update. Any ideas about why that is?

    Thank you!

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the late answer. As I was on vacation, I didn’t have a chance to reply earlier.

The reason for this is that TablePress will only do a one-time import. There’s no steady connection to the Google Spreadsheet file, so that that will not be imported again when it changes.

You will either need to import it again (and choose the “replace” option), or you could try the TablePress Extension from http://tablepress.org/extensions/table-auto-import/ that will periodically re-import the table.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,
Thank you very much for the suggested solutions.

One further clarification question. If my source is a published google spreadsheet with a fixed URL for the .csv data, will the “table-auto-import” work? Not entirely clear if that is the case.

    Cheers,

    Hi,

yes, that’s correct. If you configure the Auto Import Extension with that fixed URL, the periodic import should work just fine.

    Regards,
    Tobias
