tabbed sidebar not working?

My theme is piano black, I have been have a hellish nightmare of a time trying to find a way to either a: add a customized widget area,(I would love to utilize the header space for extra widgets and what not) or b: at least be able to get a plugin to work which will make my sidebar tabbed or collapsible, neither of which I have been able to do.
