[resolved] Syntax error when copying functions.php to child theme (5 posts)

    Hi Thomas, whenever I copy functions.php or contens.php to my child theme, it results to syntax error, thus, I'm not able to modify codes in functions.php. Right now, I activated the parent theme. I also notice that parent theme loads way fast than the child theme.

    Don't copy functions.php into your Child Theme at all. That's not how you're supposed to do it.

    I didn't actually understand how to do it, lol. I'll try to read again. But if you can suggest an easiest way for a non-code savvy like me then that'll be much appreciated.

    You're supposed to create a new functions.php file in your Child Theme, then only put in the functions you need to. What are you trying to change?

    do not create your own child theme, but instead, take the Tiny Forge child theme example and modify it, that way you will learn faster and develop faster. Please read here:
