Syntax error after editing plugin (1 post)

    Hey everyone!
Whenever I try to edit a plugins' php files, it always gives me a syntax error...I've done this with two different plugins, Event Calendar and Calendar. Right now I'm using Calendar, and I want to get rid of the * before every event. I found it in the code of calendar.php, and deleted "* " (without quotes). It gave me an error. So I put it back. It still gave me an error. ??? I couldn't get it working again until I uploaded a fresh copy of the file.

It's like the file is 'locked' and if the modified date changes, it can't use it anymore. This is getting very annoying.

    Any ideas?
