I’m stuck on a terrible server with php 5.2

I have the most recent version of WP installed and updated, for the most part it’s a fresh installation.

The only plugin I am running is The Events Calendar. I have a paid Pro version, I can’t even run it, otherwise the whole site goes white. I’m assuming this is because of the outdatted Php.

Right now, when I change define(‘WPLANG’, ‘en_EN’); to define(‘WPLANG’, ‘fr_FR’); the admin goes completely white. Can’t access any page individually in the backend.

The front end works fine and changes to French. Deleting the plugin from the plugins folder and the backend goes back to working.

  • Hi Mike,

That doesn’t sound good – though I do know we have a number of users running the French translation without any difficulties. The Events Calendar is also built to run on the same systems as supported by WordPress itself – so the fact that you are running PHP 5.2 in itself shouldn’t be an issue here (unless it’s an earlier version than PHP 5.2.4, of course, as that is the oldest currently supported version).

I appreciate you’re only running our plugin – but have you tried switching to a default, unmodified theme and does that make any difference here?

    Thanks!
