Hi, I have already many posts and pages and media and am thinking about switching to Genesis Framework / Thesis and then installing a child theme.
    Now I use Atahualpa.

what do I have to take into account,
I assume its not as easy as activating a new theme?

    Thank you!

Here is a useful checklist of things to consider: http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/checklist-15-things-you-must-do-before-changing-wordpress-themes/

Genesis and Thesis are both good frameworks, but do your homework to see which is right for you before deciding which one to use.

  3. Just to add... it *is* as easy as switching to a new theme. Even frameworks are still themes.

You may wish to do some customizations and you might have to move some widgets around, set up a nav menu, but nothing happens to your actual content.

When putting a new Atahualpa Theme up, always go here http://forum.bytesforall.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12 to check if there are additional patches you need to install.
