Support » Fixing WordPress » Switching old site to new redesign in WordPress

  • Hi All

I’d very much appreciate some advice in replacing a site with WordPress.

My old site was developed by another company using a custom CMS in ASP. It didn’t do brilliantly in terms of SEO. I am

completely rebuilding the whole site using WordPress and copying the content into from the old site to the new site.

The old site is still live and should remain so until the new site is ready. I’ve set up new hosting for the new site

and am using a new domain (just for testing). I’ve hidden the new site from search engines whilst it’s been developed

so not to get any duplicate content issues.

When the new site is ready, I want to point the original domain to the new hosting.

I assume I’ll also need to change WordPress so it’s using the original domain name and not the domain I’m using to

test. How do I go about this?

Also, how can I ensure that the old site’s ratings move to the new site? The page URLs will be different.

Just to summarise – I’m not moving to a new domain. I just want to switch the old domain to the new hosting and

    completely new wordpress site.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Many thanks
