  • I’m not clear on how far along you are in your implementation planning. The key question I have, from the plugin’s perspective, is whether the regular and high-contrast version of a given page or post will have distinct URLs or whether they will share the same URL.

The current version of the plugin cannot help you if both versions of a page or post have the URL. I can research adding support for that in a future version, if that is the case.

If the URLs differ, what is the difference? That will determine how easy or hard it will be for you to use the plugin and/or for me to change the plugin to make it work. It can currently handle most differences in URLs, but not all.

Have you chosen any other plugins and/or themes that are going to help you do this? For example, I’ve seen plugins and/or themes that work together to automatically replicate and modify each page and post of your site to provide alternate appearances, such as smartphone v.s. standard desktop/laptop. In extreme cases, sites for mobile are run as a separate WordPress installation on a subdomain.

Thanks, jonradio, for your quick response. Yes, I’d like the normal and high-contract versions to share the same URL. It sounds like your plugin doesn’t offer the functionality I’m looking for at the moment. I’ll keep looking for solutions.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for asking and answering!

If you don’t find an adequate solution elsewhere, please respond to this thread and I’ll look at potential upgrades to the plugin that would make it work for you.

If the low vision user is logged into WordPress, it is easy for me to add User Settings to the plugin. If not, I suspect the easiest way would be to make my plugin automatically add (and process) a /?theme=lowv at the end of the URL.

On second thought, it would be much better to have the plugin use a Cookie to store the visitor’s preference of regular or low vision on their computer.
