Superadmin features on subdirectory blog? (12 posts)

Please be gentle! I am new to multisite (using WP 3.0.3).

I have WP multisite set up on my main domain. Today I added mummysite.com/child1 and out of sheer laziness I used the same admin email as the mummysite.com (the user from the mummysite.com was added to mummysite.com/child1. The username/password for both sites are the same).

General question - After logging in I realized that mummysite.com/child1 has the Superadmin controls just like the mummysite.com. Is it that the Superadmin power resides with the user, so as long as I am logged in with that username, regardless of which subsite I am on, the Superadmin controls will always be there?

Problem - I've added a few posts to to mummysite.com/child1 and added both tags and a category to each post. All the categories and tags are listed if I click the 'Categories' and 'Post Tags' options. However, in the Posts list, each post shows 'uncategorized' and 'no tags'. The categories and tags exist, but they are not being attached to the posts.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Tanja.

Yes. SuperAdmin role is THE big hammer that stays with you from blog to blog.

added both tags and a category to each post

How did you save them to each post? Update while in Quick Edit, or Update while in Edit?

Thanks a lot for the prompt responses.

I added the tags and categories in Edit.

P.S. A special thanks to you Andrea_r. I used your PDF to set up multisite and it worked flawlessly.

    Tanja.

  5. thank you so much for the aesthetic warning. ;)

What other plugins are you running? One may be interfering.

Also, I'd be tempted to put a category and tag widgets in the sidebar to see what they pull.

Sorry for the delay in responding!

I have enabled plugins for the network but none of them are activated. I added category and tag widgets and you can see for yourself:

I did notice something. Normally on the post edit page, the box for that post's category is ticked. None of the boxes are ticked on any of the post on this site. I have no idea if that means anything.

    Thanks again.

What happens when you tick the categories and update the post? How are you creating the posts? Autoblog? Import RSS? Mobile App?

What category is set as the "Default Post Category" at Settings->Writing?

The content is updated but when the edit page is refreshed, the tick in the box disappears.

How are you creating the posts? Autoblog? Import RSS? Mobile App?

Manually typing it in or pasting from regular Notepad.

What category is set as the "Default Post Category" at Settings->Writing?

I really forgot to check this before, but the 'default post category' is 'Marketplace Apps'.

    Thank you.

I have changed the theme several times and the categories and tags are still not showing up. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Should I remove MU and start again?

    Thanks for any advice.

  10. No idea - if it works on the default TwentyTen then it;s your theme. Also, disable all plugins.

Otherwise, no idea really. That's weird.

The categories and tags don't show on the live sites with any theme, even the default TwentyTen. I've tried about 10 different themes (free and paid). The categories appear on the post edit page but when I tick a category and update, the tick is gone when the page refreshes.

I had 3 plugins installed but they were not activated, nor were they plugins enabled for the network. I have since deleted them but nothing has changed.

  12. Reinstall WordPress? Just reupload new core files. Your data is fine in the db.
