• I’m using the free version and am considering moving up to the Pro version. I’d like to know if I can design a site with WPtouch that also works for desktop users. I know the theme plays on mobile and tablet devices. But I’d like to use it as the primary desktop theme, too.

It looks like WPtouch only works by converting a site that’s already built using another theme. But maybe I’m wrong about how the Pro version works. Any suggestions?

  • Not sure why you’d want to do that but I view the WPtouch theme on my PC simply by adding a browser’s User-Agent (Opera in my case- not my default browser) to the Custom user-agents list in WPtouch settings.

I’d guess if you add user-agents of all common browsers you’ll get what you want.

Thanks for the response, Zygotti. When I asked my question, I didn’t understand what WPtouch was doing. What I really was looking for was using WPtouch for mobile devices but have a desktop/laptop theme that basically look the same. That way a user could view my web app on both the PC/Mac and on the smartphone or tablet.

If I was a developer, I could create or modify another theme so it had the same look and feel as the WPtouch version. So it seems my best option for integrating the theme with its WPtouch version is to find a theme that, right out of the box, looks a lot like WPtouch’s version on my smartphone or tablet.

The themes bundled with the free version of WPtouch and with WPtouch Pro are not available for other uses.
