   I'm studying about themes for a theme system specially for animals adoptions.

   I have doubts when use Categories, Tags or Post types:

   E.g.:
   Post-title : every post are titled after animal name.
   Category: Animal type (dog, cat etc)
   Status: for adoption/adopted
   Post-body: text, pitures etc
   Custom-taxonomies: size, color, etc

   Don´t know if should use 2 categories for status like adoption and adopted. So within this it should also keep the same animal types (sub-categories) too. Read somewhere is not good to set 2 categories in posts (e.g: adopted and dogs), but I wonder why that is possible then?!

   Post-types seems nice, but don´t know if has some use here.

   See the Multiple Category Selection Widget plugin. It can be a great help in searching through posts having multiple categories.

   For example, you could have this category structure:

   Animal
      Dog
      Cat
      Bird
   Status
      Adopted
      Available
   Size
      Not Applicable
      Small
      Medium
      Large
   Color
      Not Applicable
      Brown
      Black
      Multi-colored

   Using this plugin would make it easy for a viewer to search for a Cat, Available, Small, Brown.

   I need to know what is the most suitable, categories, tags, post types etc.

   Any of those can be made to work. In my opinion, using categories with this plugin is quite easy.

   But, without a complete analysis of all the things you want to do on your site, it is not possible to say which is the best way.

   I am also building a dog adoption web site. Wondering waht plugin to use to allow the public to list a dog for adoption. I saw the Business Directory plugin might work, but it does not allow image files. Maybe a classified ads web site plugin might work? Any recommendations?

   I think it's just like commerce system without tag price included. Take a sneak shot for getshopped.org plugin 'WP-e-Commerce'. Beware of falling in love with this plugin will ya :D
