Suggestion - Option to TOTALLY disable Comments (4 posts)

    WordPress is GREAT blog site software - and that is sometimes the problem. There are many potential users out there who want to set up sites which never accept comments and, instead, want only to post news. Currently, to remove all traces of comment features, links, section headers, "No Comments" messages, etc. etc., requires extensive editing of php files and style sheets. Every time the user subsequently changes themes, this process has to be done all over again.

    It would be nice if a future release of WordPress contained a checkbox in the configuration page which allowed a user to totally disable all traces of the commenting feature on every page. Future theme authors, of course, would have to pay attention to such a feature and adjust their code accordingly.

    Who would want such a feature? Anyone who has a fair amount of news type posting and no desire for feedback, examples: municipalities, theaters, e-commerce sites, news pages, etc.

    Options -> Discussion

    Have you checked out the top section on that page?

    I am also looking for a solution. The above reply partially meets my requirements. I'd rather that the comment section on a post just not appear at all. Thoughts? Plug-in? Sorry if this has been figured out already. I am new to WordPress.

    so you edit comments.php for your particular theme and remove the code that displays it ..

    Please use the search .. its your friend.
