I am looking at using WordPress to build a "static" theme based content site. The site will have a blog but it will not be the main focus of the site. I'd like to get some suggestions on plugins I can use to help in building the site and dealing with issues such as page navigation, etc.

I use wordpress for a traditional site here:

I'm having a problem with uploading in the next-gen gallery since I upgraded to the latest version, but initially it was very easy to use.
