   Well, after a disastrous experience on my test site I finally took the plunge on our main site. Everything went without a hitch. This is my advice:

   1) Back everything up
   2) Switch to the default WP theme
   3) Deactivate all your plugins and delete the one's you don't really use.
   4) Use and FTP client to upload the WP 2.7 files to your site and configure it to match the permissions of the files you'll be over writing. (Remember not to overwrite files or directories that you've made changes to.)
   5) Follow the instructions in the "readme.html" file.
