Successful Install, but how to access panel?? (3 posts)

After a few attempts I was able to successfully install WordPress manually to a subdirectory on my website. I say successful because that is the message I received along with an admin user and password. After I was given this username and password there was a button labeled "Login" so I clicked it. I then was presented with another screen to enter in the admin user and password. After doing so I get the HTTP 403 Forbidden error message. It is not giving me access.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am very new to WordPress.

Try to access your admin panel using http://yoursite/wordpressfolder/wp-login.php

I have already attempted that path. I could login but then I was given the forbidden message and no access to the wp-admin directory.

Anyway, after a couple more hours of scouring the internet. I found the very simple solution. I needed to add "index.php" as a default document on my website. Just wanted to close the loop in case anyone else was having this problem.
