   Hi,

   I'm using the "Subscribe To Comments" plugin.

   Recently I've noticed that more and more e-mails bounce back with this message:

   Remote host said: 421 4.7.0 [TS02] Messages from [some IP] temporarily deferred due to user complaints - 4.16.56.1; see http://postmaster.yahoo.com/421-ts02.html
   I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

   This tend to happen with yahoo e-mails.

   Aren't the e-mails generated form the server the site is on? Does that mean that the server-IP is blacklisted?

   Any suggestions?

   I'm having the same problem. I contacted Yahoo as per their email, but they said:

   Please note that if you are not the administrator of the mail server in question, kindly contact your email administrator directly with the error message you are receiving.

   So I guess I need to contact my host (HostGator).

   My assumption is that this is do to with multiple emails sent to yahoo addressess at the same time, due to Subscribe To Comments. If my host can't do anything, then I wonder if Subscribe to Comments can be changed to delay sending the emails over time (rather than all at once).

   Actually I contacted my host HostGator on this, here is their weird reply:

   I show that these messages are going out as your cPanel account and not your domain. If the "From" field is getting a different value it may be causing issues at the remote mail servers. You will need to configure your blog to use SMTP authentication to send as an account on the server. Please go to the link provided by Yahoo and fill out the form they mention to get your mail unblocked.

   Does anybody understand what they're saying and what they mean?

   yes, I think I do. That means that youre sending out email from a user acct that doesnt exist. In other words, you might have eddie@yourdomain.com set up, but youre are sending email from whoo@yourdomain.com

   You need to create the user acct. whoo, or wordpress, or whatever you are using for the "from" part.

   That's not it. I get the same thing and I'm the admin of my mail server. I'm rigged with their domain-keys and everything. What it means is that some of your emails got voted down as spam by Yahoo users and you're FRAGGED.

   The message also tells you that you can try again in 4 hours, so I've rigged my email server to keep retrying that long. I think that some of the emails are getting through eventually, but people want email that gets their faster than 4 hours. Most won't buy anything a site if it takes 4 hours to get your signup email.

   The funny thing is that I've been using Yahoo Search Engine Marketing to funnel customers to two different sites. So Yahoo takes my PPC money, and when users sign up for my services, they block my email.

   All of my Yahoo advertising has now been shut down pending their response. At least you can get a human on the phone in their advertising department.
