[resolved] Subscribe2 Not sending automatic email after update (6 posts)

    I'm the site admin and the postfix admin for WordPress that sends out automatic messages to subscribers at our email domain. Ever since updating Subscribe2 (with WordPress 3.5.1) over the weekend the following happened:

    * I had to activate the plugin from within each blog (I'm using multisite)
    * The emails DO NOT go out (Postfix doesn't see them at all)
    * Test emails using the "Send Email" features DOES work (Postfix sees them, they get delivered)

    I set up a blog specifically to test for this and that is the behaviour I'm seeing.

    Any other debugging I can do? Any ideas?

    @am262327,

    I'm presuming you are using Subscribe2 8.8. If that is the case there is a bug in the update code that runs for Multisite installs. It may be contributing to your issues so let's remove this as a possibility first.

    Download this file:
    http://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/subscribe2/trunk/classes/class-s2-multisite.php

    And use it to replaced the file of the same name on your server at wp-content/plugins/subscribe2/classes/.

    Yes, 8.8. Thanks so much for supporting multisite that and subscribe2 fits our needs perfectly.

    I did as directed. Copied it to the right path and ran chown on it. I tried activating the plugin and got the same error as I got the first time when I activated it:
    "Subscribe2 cannot be activate as a network plugin. Please activate it at on a site level"

    (Notice there is a grammar error there: activated)

    I then de-activated and then re-activated it at the site level, tested again. Got the same behavior.

    $: pwd
    /var/www/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/subscribe2/classes
    $: ls -l
    total 144

    @am262327,

    Site specific activation is intended behaviour. Subscribe2 didn't work well on a network activation basis on larger sites (so I'm told - I don't use Multisite).

    Try installing a mail logging plugin and see if the emails are generated, it may be that there are no active subscribers in your test category, also check for excluded categories.

    Hmm... I must have overlooked something because one of the blogs that was using Subscribe2 works now. I have another issue but I'll make another thread for it. Thanks!

    @am262327,

    I'm glad it's started working for you. It may well have been awaiting the full update in order to work.
