Support » Plugin: Subscribe2 - Form, Email Subscribers & Newsletters » subscribe2 incompatibility with elegant theme shortcode

  • Hi

    I’ve been using Subscribe2 on several wordpress site and love the way it works, thanks for such a great plugin !

    I have a problem on one site though. After upgrading to the latest version of Minimal theme (from Elegant theme), the shortcode for displaying more content from a tab stopped working and none of the content is displayed anymore.

    for an example see: http://www.lilianricaud.com/travail-en-reseau/ressources/telechargements/

    The content is visible in the source code but for some reason, it is not displayed on the web page itself.

    After switching all my plugins on and off I found subscribe2 was causing the problem.

    The strange thing is that I use subscribe2 with other Elegant themes on different WordPress sites without any problem. It seems to be only happening for this particular version of the theme when using subscribe2.

    Do you have any idea what could be cause the problem ? Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

  • @lilian,

    I can only think it’s a bug in the theme that is corrupting the final HTML and causing huge chunks of your content to be hidden.

    @lilian,

    Update. I found some time to have a better look, the issue seems to me to be coming from some theme CSS with an id of ‘et-shortcodes-css-css’. If you remove just that style sheet from your page it works loads better. With it loaded there is nothing to read.

    The file path is:
    themes/Minimal/epanel/shortcodes/css/I.shortcodes.css,qver=3.0.pagespeed.cf.TzByG0fjyO.css

    Thanks for such a quick reply !

    Yes it seems to come from the shortcode CSS. What I don’t understand is why it only happens on this particular version of the theme and ONLY when subscribe2 is activated.

    I’ll try to investigate further, thanks again.

    @lilian,

    Try using Subscribe2 with the AJAX code disabled (in Subscribe2->Appearance). That should stop it loading CSS and JS on the front side and might aid in debugging at lease.

    Disabling AJAX did the trick ! the content is now displayed properly.

    Thank you very much for the help and quick reply !

    @lilian,

    It was possibly due to the theme using it’s own version of jQuery rather that the WordPress bundled version and that probably resulted in a conflict. It’s working now though which is good.
