I am about to attempt the "5-minute installation", but before I do can anyone clear up this issue for me.

I have an existing html site that I wish to keep, merely adding a link from it to my new blog (I will try and tweak the colour schemes later). I have turned on php and script support and have created a MySql databas.

    My question is:

Do I upload WordPress to a sub domain?
    i.e.blog.mydomain.com
or do I upload it to a new folder on my site?
    i.e. mydomain.com/blog

Thanks in advance... all help appreciated

well, I think it depends on where you want the blog to be located. the wordpress can be put anywhere you like...

OK, so by that I guess you mean... the choice is yours!

I just wondered if there was any particular advantage in using one or the other (blog.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/blog

Might as well stop messing around and get my hands dirty then.

So I will create a folder in my site structure called blog and unzip my WordPress folder to there. Then I will upload it to my Fasthosts server using the Dreamweaver built in ftp, follow the instructions on the can ("5 minute installation") and all will be well.

    We'll see

The advantage of subdomain is that if your site gets high traffic in future and if you plan to move your subdomain to separate server then you can easily to do it. It is possible to run main web site and subdomains on a different servers.

Well, I must be dumb. I know where I want to place my blog on my homepage. I just don't understand how to get it to that location. Here is my homepage to see where I want it to go.
