• I’ve seen different posts about this through the support forums, but I don’t really understand them / they’re not the exact situation I’m having.
I bought my domain at namecheap and host my wordpress blog on fatcow. My primary fatcow URL is not the URL that this blog is set up on.
The subdomain that goes to my blog (which I want!) is blog.aparnabrielle.com. However, when you click on posts, it goes to:
    aquarisign.com/aparnabrielle/blog/PERMALINKDETAILSHERE

    where I actually want:
    blog.aparnabrielle.com/PERMALINKDETAILSHERE

I seriously did not ever have this problem. Ever. Until just a few days ago. aparnabrielle.com & blog.aparnabrielle.com are still at namecheap and they did not cause me problems when I just pointed them at my host, before. Can I get a little help here? What steps do I have to follow to fix the permalink issue so it’s smoothed over?

    Thank you so much! 🙂

  • Hello Awbrie,

My name is Melissa and I am the Social Media Manager here at FatCow. In an effort to help customers more we have been taking a look around the forums here.

With your particular issue it sounds like you have your Site URL in the WordPress database set to http://aquarisign.com/aparnabrielle/blog/. I see this on occasion if you built your WordPress site on http://aquarisign.com/aparnabrielle/blog/ first and then wanted to move it over to http://blog.aparnabrielle.com.
To check if this is the case please do the following:
    1. Go to MySQL Database in the control panel.
    2. Click on the database in question.
    3. Click to launch phpMyAdmin.
    4. Select the wp_options table.
    5. Click “Browse” in the upper left.
Your Site URL will be displayed in the tables.

To update a Site URL you can follow the information at the link below. Please keep in mind that you not only want to change the Site URL but you’ll need to update all posts, content, etc. that have this link saved. There are some themes and plugins that may have to be reconfigured as well.

Our Professional Services team is able to do a Site URL update for you for a fee if you’d like us to handle this. If so please email melissa(at)fatcow(dot)com and I can help you get this taken care of.

If I was incorrect in my assumption on this issue please respond or email me and I’d be happy to take a look and make sure everything is running fine on our end. (Once security is verified of course! =) )

    Kind regards,

    Melissa
    Social Media Manager
