  • I’m new to WP so please excuse this basic question, but did some searching and can’t find the answer.
Did the install for “Create a Network”, want to have a configuration for sub-directories.
Installed wordpress at the root /var/www/html
    Modified the wp-config.php, created .htaccess
Created the blogs.dir with appropriate permissions
Can get to the site and can log in as Network Admin.

I want to create another blog in a separate sub-directory. I go to Network Admin, click on Sites, create a new site (www.site.com/site1) but when I hit that url I get a 404. When I create the new site in Network Admin, does it create a subdirectory under the top level wordpress site? Or do I need to make the directory on the server and copy all the wordpress files into it?
Is there some documentation on how to do this?

    Thanks

A 404 usually means the .htaccess wasn’t right. What’s in yours?

No and no. The blogs are virtual – does not matter if they are subdomains subfolder or mapped domains.
