    Hi,
My theme contains a 404.php but I cannot get it to display. All i get is a broken link tab in firefox. Im running on local machine at the moment. Would this make a difference?

Do I need to add code somewhere? functions.php/index.php?

    Thanks

You shouldn’t need to add any code to get a theme’s 404.php file to work. Where is the url in the broken link tab pointing to?

    Hi,

If i type in this url: http://localhost/HP/fred.php (which i know does not exist), all i get is a “Oops! This link appears to be broken.” message in firefox.

If i give it a page id that does not exist, i just get a blank template page?

All i want to do is make sure the 404.php works and so i can style it!

    Thanks

PS. Is this because i am on my local machine??

Possibly. What url is entered in Admin/Settings/General? What permalink structure are you using?

    URL in general settings: http://localhost/HP

I am using the default permalinks.

Have you tried switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    Just tried – same issue.

I am hoping to get this site online this week – hopefully it’ll work then..will keep you posted.
Thanks for your help so far.
