For starters What is the difference in the .org and .com?

I have my own hosting and the site I will be creating will be to replace an existing site. It's a business site with it has it's own domain.

I'm fairly confident in my ability to at least get a basic site up and running but I don't know if I need the free one or pay the $99? Do I need to install it on my computer or use it online?

I need help getting started in the right direction.

Thank you sooooo much in advance for any guidance. I'm really anxious to get rolling!

    Beth.

You don't need to pay the $99 since you have your own domain and hosting.

That comparison was helpful. Thanks a bunch.

Mind a couple more questions? ;)

As long as I can use the domain name and have control over page names the free version they host would be great I think.

Do you know if I can operate multiple blogs/sites (each with diff domain names) via the same dashboard or will they each need separate accts/login set up? My concern is if they need separate accts I'll probably have to have a diff email address.

    Thanks again!!!

You can operate multiple blogs on WordPress.com

However, you won't be able to use plugins and won't have the same degree of control over your site as compared to hosting it yourself and using the software from WordPress.org.

It sounds like you want to use WordPress' multisite option:
