We are in the process of rebuilding our web site after loosing our database, now in this new install while rebuilding and it was fine, but now all of the sudden, we are now stuck in html mode in the editor, both tabs are there, but it just shows html.....
I have to be honest....we have had strange things happen with 3.01........
we deactivated and uninstalled all the plugins
Any Ideas

Go to Users/Your Profile in the admin panel and make sure that "Disable the visual editor when writing" is not checked.

ok I checked it was not checked, when I checked it, the 2 tabs disappeared,, so I un checked it again, both tabs are there, still in html.........no matter which one you click.

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the
wp-config.phpfile and the/wp-content/directory with fresh copies from the download.
