[resolved] Strong and Embed html tag issues (7 posts)

    Hi,

I just upgraded from WP 2.6 to Wp 2.7.1 and I'm using the "Three Column Blue 1.1 by 7879 Designs" theme. The website is http://www.bigbencomedy.com and I'm experiencing two issues:

Issue 1: Bold text does not display as bold text in Firefox and Chrome. (It does display in IE.) The preview in Word Press, and the source code from the browser both show the < strong > tag being in the right place, but it doesn't appear in the browser. Even more puzzling is that the text does appear as bold in the rss feed (viewed through Chrome).

Issue 2: The < embed > tag does not display a youtube movie in the RSS feed, but it works on the site no problem.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix one or both of these problems, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You have font-weight: inherit; for strong in your theme's style.css, and maybe this is causing unpredictable results in some browsers.

Thanks iridiax! Removing the font-weight: inherit; line fixed that issue. You're good (or I'm bad :P )

I don't suppose you have any ideas for fixing the < embed > tag for the RSS feed?

Make sure that you are using full feeds (not summary ones). I just use the Viper's Video Quicktags plugin for my media because I've had my own problems in the past getting the code right.

Where would I go to make sure I'm using full feeds? I know I use feedburner for the RSS feed...

Thanks again for all your help!

In WordPress, go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Reading to check if Full Text is selected. I don't use feedburner, but I know that some people have had issues with images and other content not showing in their feed. Check with feedburner help and try a few forum searches here to see if anyone has solved this issue.

I did a quick search and it seems like that Viper plug in you recommended is the best option. I've installed it and will try it out with my next post (hopefully tonight).

Are there any settings in viper I need to change that you're aware of, or should it work with RSS if left to defaults?

    Thanks again!
