I'm looking for a plugin that easily streams audio (mp3s) yet does not offer the ability to download the file - strictly just streamed/embedded audio. Does anyone know of a plugin like this? Thanks!

Works like a charm. But good luck keeping anyone from downloading anything they really, really, want without your permission. There are so many different browser plugins and methods of circumvention out there for downloading embedded media, that it's pretty hard to completely prevent it anymore.

thanks for this, clayton - however, after going through the installation and viewing the user comments on the plugin's website, it appears that it's having compatibility issues with newer versions of firefox and wordpress (it hasn't been updated since 2006).

it won't work with my installation at all - i can configure it fine, but it doesn't show up on the website.

    any other ideas? thanks again..

it appears that it's having compatibility issues with newer versions of firefox and WordPress (it hasn't been updated since 2006).

This is kind of a weird recent development. In fact I think it may have been me that first mentioned the Firefox issue, and there are a lot of people using it on the 2.5 series with no problems. It's basically a flash component, so an updated version of the plugin is not necessarily an issue where WordPress is concerned. It's strange that it doesn't happen for everyone, but I'm sure that given a few days, someone will notice a commonality that may not even have anything to do with the plugin.

As far as it not showing up, make sure you closely follow the documentation for inserting the player in a post after you activate and setup the plugin parameters. You have to manually insert it in a post using something like this:

    [audio:nameofmyfile.mp3]

It's pretty much that simple. Make sure that the path to your audio folder is correctly defined.

I hope it works out for you, and myself as well. I would really like to keep using this plugin.
