My Dashboard has had a notice on it for a while saying to upgrade to wordpress 2.3.2

Today I decided to go for my usual one step upgrade – don’t backup anything, don’t disable plugins, just upload the files, overwrite and run the upgrade script. Yes its risky but thats me 🙂

So I overwrote the files on my FTP server, went to run the upgrade script ( wp-admin/upgrade.php ) and it said I am already up to date and no need to upgrade. Went back to the dashboard and the notice to upgrade to 2.3.2 has gone.

I check the version I am running and it is indeed now 2.3.2

Has anyone seen this behaviour before? I was under the impression that the upgrade would not occur unless you actually run the upgrade script.

  • Because there are no database changes, there is no need to install. You did everything right and as I hear it, everything went perfectly.

OH right, I didn’t realise some versions did not need installing. All the other ones I did before needed installing IIRC.

Thanks for your help. Do you know what is new in this version? I looked for a changelog but could not find one.

    See here. It’s mostly security.
