Strange ">" sign within meta-content / and no GoogleBot (7 posts)

    Hi people. I’ve got two questions, and I really hope you guys can help me out:

    1) My WordPress-pages (most of them at least) have a strange > sign within the meta content. Why is that a problem? Because it shows up in the Google results. Really annoying! :D

    The line in the page code goes like this: <meta name="description" property="and:description" content="bla bla bla>" … and no matter where I look, I can’t edit that annoying sign out. I’ve tried a number of meta-plugins, but they don’t seem to able to change/edit already existing stuff like that. Any ideas?

    2) And well, ahem… for five days in a row now, GoogleBot get’s a timeout / is blocked from my site. I don’t know why, because the server is healthy and I haven’t made any significant changes at all. Is this normal?

    Thanks so much :)

    Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.

    the description with the > comes from:
    <meta name="description" property="og:description" content="Telefon: 11 16 18 15>" />

    i.e. it does not come from the seo plugin which's output comes lower down on the page.

    possibly check your theme's header.php for the <meta name="description" property="og:description" code (?)

    what theme are you using?

    The theme is called Responsive Visual.

    My header goes like this...

    <!DOCTYPE html>

    <!DOCTYPE html>

    <!--[if IE 8 ]> <html class="ie8"> <![endif]-->

    <!--[if (gt IE 9)|!(IE)]><!--> <html <?php language_attributes(); ?>> <!--<![endif]-->
    <head>

    <?php tha_head_top(); ?>

    <?php if(of_get_option('seo') == 'yes') { ?>

    please contact organizedthemes for support with your theme;

    as a commercial theme, it is not supported by this forum.

    general, from looking at this section:

    <?php if(of_get_option('seo') == 'yes') { ?>
    <?php do_action('organizedthemes_header_seo'); ?>
    <?php } else { ?>
    <title><?php wp_title(''); ?></title>
    <?php } ?>

    it seems there is a theme option for seo?

    Ok, sure thing. Thank you for looking though. But... Mmm... what about my GoogleBot-issue. Are all problems specific to one's own theme?
