[resolved] Strange Latin capital letter A with circumflex after more tag (6 posts)

I have recently started maintaining a WP site and when I edited a page by adding a more tag I started seeing, on a different page that is only giving the highlights of the page I edited, at the end of the continue statement - Continue reading about the Community Garden » - the A with the circumflex.

I only edited one page and there were 4 continue statements on the highlights page each with the strange character at the end.

This isn't showing up anywhere else, we haven't upgraded and we haven't altered the character set. The only thing different is my editing the page by inserting the more tag. Also, I use a Mac OS X system with Snow Leopard.

I have seen all the responses to alter the DB but I need to know if the Mac editing caused this and since it is localized to this page do I need to change the entire DB?

The site isn't live and can only be accessed by a static IP so that is why I didn't give the link.

    Thanks,

    Randal

Working on a Mac shouldn't cause this unless you pasted text into WordPress from something other than a plain text editor.

That's good to know it's not the Mac. I didn't do any pasting just in the post box for that page I used the More tag and then it showed up. Do you have any ideas how it happened?

I got confused earlier in saying the site wasn't live. This one actually is live. You can see the highlight page with the strange character at http://www.fluvannamg.org/projects/

It could be a theme issue. Try switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

I am not the lead admin on the account so I will have to ask them to make the change.

It wasn't the theme. Instead it was I was editing through the visual editor, instead of the html editor, and it was changing the entity code to the actual character which was then breaking the short code.
