I am using my-calendar and in the events that I post in the calendar I can see some characters like,
"December 31, 2012 – My calendar message appear ok after this."

    Pls help!

That's usually the result of cutting and pasting smart characters out of a word processing program like MS Word - when those characters are copied, they're frequently unrecognizable. Could this be your issue?

Thanks for your reply. This does not seem to be the case since I typed all the items in the form. Do you think it has something to do with the version of the database/php etc.?

It could relate to your database collation. If you typed in a character not supported by your database collation, you could end up with garbling. What was the character initially?

The strange thing is that I am not typing anything where there are these characters. I just set the date (no time was set) and then the event which appears after these characters.

I have tried several times to delete and re-type the calendar event detail but this does not seem to help at all.

    The details are below.
EVENT TITLE: "LFoundry LF150 - GDSII submission (Q1-12-1)"
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Deadline for submission of GDS II for Foundry's LF150 tapeout.

The calendar list event shows up like this,
    "December 31, 2012 – LFoundry LF150 - GDSII submission (Q1-12-1)
    N/A, Tapeout"

Ah! It's actually a bad character in your template, then. Check your widget template and re-type whatever character is between date tag and the title tag.

    I have the same problem, I couldn't type characters "č" and "ć" instead "?" in a pop-up.

That's actually a different problem; but probably comes either from a character set issue in your theme or in your database. You'll need to check your database collation and the character set your theme is rendering.
