Hm, this doesn't seem to be working as it should. My wp-function-generated category links keep pointing to the full base+category permalinks, although manually removing the base from the url does work. Is this normal?

I needed this for a client and fix that issue. Check https://github.com/markoheijnen/wp-no-taxonomy-base

Thanks for the code Marko though I have noticed an issue.

If your permalink contains the taxonomy name, this also gets stripped

Example your taxonomy is book and your url is:

    http://www.myblog.com.au/stephen-king-books

The url becomes http://www.myblog.com.au/stephen-king- which results in a 404.

I thought in my fork I should have fixed that kind of issues. I will look into it tomorrow and see if I can fix it. Also really curious if I created the issue or if it was already existing.
