Hello, I've been following instructions from my web hosting, which I've been having some problems with. I'm not sure if I'm understanding the instructions.

First it says "For WordPress to work correctly, please do not put it or it's directories inside your cgi-bin directory." Then, "Create a wordpress directory on your CGI server and upload all files to that directory." Is the cgi-bin the same thing as the cgi server? The instructions are located at http://www.activewebhosting.com/faq/scripts-wordpress.html

I have the cgi set up correctly, and the mysql, but install.php does not show up where I uploaded it: http://cgi.distant-voices.com/cgi-bin/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php

    Thank you.

You have it in your CGI-BIN which the instructions explicitly tell you not to.

Oh, I see. But I still do not understand where it should be uploaded - if not in the cgi-bin folder, then where? Thanks.

Just in a normal folder, or your root folder (I think you need to be able to change it's permissions, but I can't remember for sure).

Thank you, but I do not understand the difference between the cgi server and the cgi-bin. I've also uploaded the wordpress folder outside of the cgi-bin folder, and I had the same problem.

    "I had the same problem."
    What is the problem ?

Nevermind, I figured it out. My original question was "Is the cgi-bin the same thing as the cgi server?" - which is the problem I was having. I did not understand how to use my cgi server b/c I didn't know what it was. Thank you.
