• in firefox when installing and as it should take me to step 2 it asks me to download index.php.

my blog is installed in a subfolder so I think its looking on the root of my site for step 2.

it still installs but leads to a new problem as described on my home page.

    http://www.galmedia.co.uk/blog/

only thing my host does different is uses a IP instead of localhost.

  • If it’s trying to download index.php you probably don’t have PHP installed or working correctly.

php is installed. the blog does work but when visiting the site you get a white screen, click refresh and it shows the blog.

when logged into admin it sometimes asks me to download pages, sometimes doesnt.I have had wordpress working fine on my host before.

    (the above is in firefox)

    in safari:
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.galmedia.co.uk/blog/”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 302.)” (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork:302) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

click refresh and the blog loads

Then my money is on PHP not being setup correctly. If it was, it wouldn’t be trying to download it, it would parse it.

It’s possible that your host changed settings to where it worked before and doesn’t now.

The only confusing thing is that when it reloads it comes up.

My hosts say they cant give support for wordpress. just checked phpmyadmin and site url seems to be fine. this as got me stumped big time.

Checked web server error logs? Maybe something there that would help diagnose the issue?

How much memory is your PHP configured to use?

    (@paulgal)

    heres my error logs:
    http://www.galmedia.co.uk/errorlog.html

not sure how much help they will be as i have been tampering with mysql so some of the error logs may be down to that(espesh the ones with URL).

    memory limit is 20m

    still unresolved, anyone?

    Who is your host?

What web-server and version is in use?

    What version of PHP?

    What version of MySQL?

Does the script described at Finding Server Info execute properly?

    Thread Starter paulgal

    (@paulgal)

    my host is streamline.net

    on Linux

    heres my php info:

    PHP Version: 5.2.6
    System: Linux fhlinux153.fasthosts.net.uk 2.4.21-53.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Nov 14 03:54:12 EST 2007 i686
    Build Date: May 6 2008 13:09:54
    Server API: CGI/FastCGI

    mysql Client API version: 4.1.11

I could not find apache version or release this is all i could find that had apache:

    _ENV[“SERVER_SOFTWARE”] Apache/1.3.41
    _SERVER[“SERVER_SOFTWARE”] Apache/1.3.41

I’ve installed WordPress at streamline.net before.

Have you tried deleting all the wordpress files and reuploading?

    Thread Starter paulgal

    (@paulgal)

I’ve tried installing many times making sure no files are skipped etc. with different versions of wordpress and the result is always the same. it gets to step two asks me to download index.php (in firefox) it does install the db but then shows a blank screen unless I hit refresh. my current installation is on the root of the domain.

if you type in a bogus file name in the directory WP is installed in it still ask to download the file (in firefox)

I have had wordpress working fine on a different domain with streamline.net. uploading with dreamweaver shouldnt make any difference should it? (corrupt files etc)

    WordPress.org Admin

Don’t upload with Dreamweaver. In fact, don’t ever do anything with Dreamweaver. Why people use that program I will never understand…

Use an FTP program instead. FileZilla is good.

just tried fetch ftp on my mac, full clean install – db and upload. problem still persists

… and looks like is resolved?

I see a blog with the Default theme running.

    (@paulgal)

the blog installs but I still get a blank screen when I visit the site. I then have to hit refresh to make it appear. occasionally it shows on first visit. if the site is cached it will show on first visit. When browsing admin it still asks me to download certain pages.its not just my mac either as i get the same problem on my pc.

been trying to figure this out for 3 week now.
