Hi, is there anyway I can make my blog a webpage. I have looked through tons of the tutorials and frankly some of them are really out of date or very involved.
I am pretty new at this and I would like a welcome page that remains pretty static. I would, however, like to have my blog on a different page. I am also looking to make the site pretty interactive (after I learn more about the process)and wonder if I should do everything through WordPress or through the scripts at Bluehost.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Log in to your Dashboard. Go to Settings. Go to Reading. Select to use a static page as your front page and select the page you want it to use. Then select a different page to have your posts on. Click Save Changes.
It is always best to do things manually(Through WordPress) if you have the knowledge and the time.

I am using 2.6.2, and when I try to set a static page, I go to Readings but there is no option available to select static page. Is this standard with 2.6.2 or do I need to try and reload WordPress
This is standard with 2.6.2
If you aren't seeing it, then reinstall your WordPress, or look at some of the great tutorials online which talk about using a static page as the front page.
