I am looking into using wp to build up an informational site which has several pages of text describing the business services. for the front page, I want to change it to be only custom text. The blog would be shown when they visit the news page. on the front page, all I would want is a news block showing the post titles. is this hard to do using wp?
I saw some themes already which said they had it configured this way. can you recommend any starter themes that are already setup this way?

Thanks! Yeah that really points me in the right direction. I see they talk about how all themes might not easily convert. I will watch and see which ones I find are friendly to this.

not sure which theme you can look at to display each title only on the news page .. usually they show title and excerpt and other show full story
maybe you can tweak the them of your choice to do what you want it to do ...
