    >How do I create static pages in 1.5?

Know how to use the Admin panel?

Get there and then hit the link on the left for ‘Write’…when that page loads, you’ll see two links underneath.

One is ‘Write Post’ and the other is ‘Write Page’.

Click on ‘Write Page’ and go from there.

I run a 200+ page CMS site with WSP 1.5 pages only. I’m sure you’ll come back with more questions later, but for now, just get used to managing pages.

The codex is also a good place to read up on stuff, I suggest starting with this page, which details what a page is.

Yes I know what a page is.
I have two pages, and they link like this, <url>/?page_id=x

I’ve seen some people have <url>/page for their pages.

leslie, then your real question is this: how do I create “nice” permalinks for my Pages?
Go to your Options >Permalinks and set up the settings you want and make sure your .htaccess file is writable all the time. WP will create the kind of URIs you want, i.e. yoursite.com/blog/mynewpage – whenever you create a Page, based on the page’s slug.

Ahh yes, sorry for the misunderstanding.

I’m a brand new WP 1.5 user. I’ve been trying WP 1.5 for hours and I’ve read through the support forum and the codex. I believe I know what a “page” is in WP 1.5 and when I try to create a page the link appears in the pages section in the right-hand side of the default template but when I click on the link for the page in my sample blog it doesn’t take me anywhere except to the main page of the blog. I can’t seem to be able to call up the “page” that I created. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have a .htaccess ?

When you have created the page, you are taken to the menu inside WP. To the right there are 3 options – what happens when you click the View option ?

My apologies on the last post. I figured out the problem. The link is not coming up with the “index.php” before it ads the ID variable. Before I bother anyone with a solution I’ll try it further myself. I don’t believe in bothering others if I can figure it out myself. Thanks to anyone who looked at my post.
