Static page and reading (2 posts)

I understand in order to make a page to be static on the home page, I just need to go into the reading area and pick the page to make static on the front page.

Currently on my home page, I have a post which serves as the "welcome" to the site. So in order to get it to be static, I created another one, but made it a page. In doing this, i was able to find it in the reading area and set it to be static on the home page.

The problem is that in doing this, it takes that page's name and creates a new tab for it at the top of the template. So now I end up with one tab that says "home" and another that has the new static page's title and both pages have the same content.

So my question is, how to not make it not show up as another tab at the top when creating a static page?

Also, if I get this figured out, then I need to know where are all the posts being displayed?

    Any help appreciated!

Many themes use the template tag, wp_list_pages(), to diplay pages for navigation and some theme authores hardcode 'Home' in a theme's header.php, so you may need to delete that.
