I have my WordPress site set up so that a certain page displays as the homepage. The problem is that the title of the page is hyperlinked to a separate page which displays the very same content with a longer url (example: http://www.myblog.com/page-title)
This is essentially duplicate content and google doesn't like it.
Anyone know how to make the main page static but not have it duplicated in a separate page?

Um whoever wrote that page doesn't speak very good English.
What do the mean when they say:
"Title one as "Home" (or another name) as your "static" front page.
Set the "Home" template to the default template or any custom template."
I previously had the content that I wanted to show up on the main page published as a post.
I followed the directions and made it a page and now my main page at my site shows no content!
Help!

I figured it out. You have to go to Settings>Reading and tell it which static page to display.
