Static front page and Posts problem (12 posts)

I created a static page as the forums detailed and that is great...BUT now if I create posts I see them under the page called "posts" but they are just all run together on one page so you have to keep scrolling down the one page to find a post. The names of the posts do not show up anywhere where they could be found....I did catagorize the posts, but this didn't do anything.

What might I be doing wrong?

It could be a 'Feature' (AKA problem) with your theme. If you are using a free theme, post a link to your site and someone might be able to help. If you are using a paid theme, you should contact the theme supplier.

    Hello,
Well, yes that would be a good idea to post the link...It is"
    http://blog.melissafargo.com/

Is there a way to see a list of posts rather than having them just on one ...page (I can't think of another way to describe it)

Also, I was able to upload several headers and fix it so they would display at different times. There is one I want to remove, but don't know how to find it. Removing it from the media library did not keep it from turning up in the header. (It's the one that says melissa fargo photography)

    Thanks for any ideas!

Ussually, you can set the number of posts which display per page in the Reading settings.

As for your header image, if it's not in the media library there must be an external url, it has to come from somewhere..
How is the image being called to the header? can you find the code?

I am having difficulty in recreating your problem on my test site. It would help to know more about your configuration. In particular, I don't know how you got the 'Recent Posts' to appear like that on the Home page.

It appears that you are using a Static Front Page with a Page titled 'Posts' for your blog posts. If that is the case, the 'Posts' page will display the number of posts that you have set under Admin->Settings->Reading->'Blog pages show at most'.

If you have more posts than that, links will be generated to 'Older Posts' and 'Newer Posts' to allow a viewer to page back and forth.

I see...it is exactly as you said. So, is there anyway to display post titles so that they are listed on the "posts" page instead of only older or newer?

Also, I remembered once you mentioned an external url that I had made the header work by putting those images in my website...so I was able to remove it there...thanks for that!!

...and yes, I am using a static page and posts for blog posts. Maybe this isn't the best way to do it....although I liked the static page, but it seems it might be hard to navigate this way?

I'm not sure what you mean.

Is there anyway to make a navigation button with a drop down that says something like "catagories" so that you could go to a specific catagory and see all the posts there rather than just a monthly archive? I hope that makes some sense!

Category links show an archive of the posts in that category, the standard category widget will list all your categories and link to their archives. if you want to display full posts in the archive, instead of just titles, excerpts, thumbnails, just go to your archive.php file and find/change "the_excerpt" to "the_content".

What is the catagory widget...do I have it or do I need to go find it somewhere?

in your admin settings go to Appearnce/Widgets, you'll see it on the left side, just drag it into the sidebar on the right, you proabably have more than one sidebar, depending on your theme..

-you have to expand the sidebar for the widget to be inserted.
