    Hi Guys,

I know this has probably been answered before somewhere but I just cant find it!

I want to have my front page as a static page, with no posts, but other (non-wp) content on it - almost like a splash page, but still with the header and footer. When the user clicks the nav links at the top then my 'blog posts' will be seen.

I have set up the corresponding pages (about, blog etc.), but cant figure out how to have it static with no posts but custom code

I edited the index.php file thinking it was that, but after setting my blog posts to be shown on 'blog' page, it is exactly the same as my index.php page :?

    I hope that makes sense

I'm new to wordpress, so please explain everything VERY SIMPLY

    Cheers

    Mark

Ok, Ive got that to display the 'splash' page Ive created as my front page. But if I edit page.php to not show sidebar etc, it will affect all my other 'pages'?

Yes. You will need to create a custom page template and apply it to your new splash page.
