State Categories list?

    I have a question… I am new to WordPress and cannot figure out how to search for this. The posts on the site I am working on have a state in which it is from. What we would like to do it have a widget that lists them like this…

    States
    California (8)
    Michigan (5)
    Tennessee (4)
    etc.

    So if an entry is added to California it would read (9) and when you click on it it brings up everything in California.

    Is there something like this out there? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
