I have no experience designing websites or using wordpress. I purchased a theme, thinking that this would be easy. I'm finding that I need some remedial education. Can anyone recommend a good book I can purchase on building websites that can get me up to speed and won't bore me to death?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    lpstenu,

Those look good, but I'm finding that I need some help with html, style sheets, etc. The admin panel is good, but assumes tacit knowledge I don't have. I am looking at Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML. Any thoughts?

    Start with learning WordPress.

What you're asking about, with HTML and CSS, is actually something you can postpone unless you need to edit your own theme. WP separates theme (design) and admin (content). If you just need a basic HTML book, look for that, or look for one on WordPress themeing :)
