I looked at a ton of different CMS solutions, but the management structure was much too complicated for a website that would mostly center around a blog. However, I have to admit, even WordPress isn't that great a solution for a CMS (the website took quite a bit of hacking).
There are quite a few bugs with the website that I'm trying to resolve. However, I haven't yet found a clever solution to a lot of these problems. I'm trying to keep hacks to the minimum so I'm depending largely on a massive arsenal of plugins.
I'm also in search of a media gallery that allows me to use nested albums. I encountered one such gallery called aNiga, but it doesn't support WP2.5 and the author doesn't intend to update it anytime soon. It's been a mind-boggling experience trying to find a good media gallery (I've tried about 10-12 different ones and even tried using Gallery2, except WPG2 is just way more work to implement than it should be).
