SSL Certificates with Multisite Help

I know that you can update a single install of WP to make it work with an SSL certificate by going to Settings > and changing the URL’s to https from http.

With multisite, that option is gone.

Does this mean I should install one version or WP, make the site work with SSL and then update to Multi Site?

Any one with experience is encouraged to Help!
