   Whenever I click the spell checker box on the Visual Editor, I am returned the error as a dialog box containing
   "could not execute ajax call, server didn't return valid a XML".

   What exactly could be the problem? I get this error for every post I make.

   I am having this same issue, only I am using vr. 2.3.3, here is a screen capture of the error pop-up.

   I do hope that there is a solution.

   wolfsbane, i think i have a possible solution if you are still looking
   i simply went into the config.php file
   (wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/spellchecker)
   and commented out the TinyGoogleSpell and un-commented the TinyPspellShell, now it's working no problem.
