Am I over-complicating things or is there an easy way to make a navigation bar only with certain pages?

Do you have to use <?php wp_list_pages('arguments'); ?> to generate the list? or can you just hand-code the nav list using permalinks after writing the pages ?

    I've read http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages and http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/wp_list_pages

It's a little confusing because I'm an amateur at this stuff. Is it correct that you can't "exclude all pages after page X"? and there's no command to specify what pages to include unless it's the one for all sub-pages of a certain page? Is that how to do it?

I was trying to add extra pages to Blix while keeping the navigation bar. Then tried to do something similar for Almost Spring. This is over my head, and I'm lost in the codex. Any help or pointers in the right direction will be appreciated

If it's easier - you can simply handcode, as you said, after creating the Pages.

Thanks. After spending hours trying to figure this out my brain was fried. Blix has some nifty coding for the menu bar, but it's way over my head.

That's why I never touch that theme.
